saw the marriage of figaro last night, performed by the pittsburgh opera: a hilarious plotline with twists and turns worthy of plum himself, talented singers with powerful voices and dramatic stage presence, a beautiful score showcasing the woodwinds (and the orchestra itself was made up of plenty of Duquesne people — the Stegemans, Juan [our symphony concertmaster], the horn teacher, one of the chorus teachers.) afterwards, amanda and i clipped along through the streets in our gravity-defying heels, nick strode ahead with coattails flapping, and we all rejoiced in the elegant white lights strung in all the trees.

blew a kiss to the security camera in the subway station as we passed merrily through (having felt luxuriously lazy enough to take the T down just one stop and save ourselves a few minutes’ walk.)

talked to krista after i had gotten home and kicked off my darling pink shoes. she informed me that when i come home home, namely saturday evening, she would give me one whole penny .. possibly even two. “but i don’t have any pennies yet,” she averred. “i need to work for Dad first. except he can never think of good jobs for me to do.” we brainstormed penny-worthy employment until it was time to say goodbye, at which point she had decided to pick up branches in the yard .. and i went to bed.
the end.
